About WCAT Media

WCAT Media consists of students in the Multimedia Pathway at Wheeling High School. Students first take Intro to Multimedia Communications, then go on to Production, Storytelling, and then to Practicum. Students take part in a variety of communication activities, including video production, podcasting, yearbook production, and journalism. These students work under the WCAT Media umbrella.

Included in the WCAT Media umbrella:

Newspaper (Spokesman): The Wheeling Spokesman is the journalism sector of WCAT Media. The Spokesman releases four issues every year, covering local news and events in the Wheeling area. The Spokesman also polls the community and publishes letters to the editor.

Yearbook (Lair): The Lair is the yearbook sector of WCAT Media. The Lair works year-round to craft spreads and to race to tag people against deadlines. They work with Jostens to produce yearbooks that are distributed at the start of the next year.

Video Production: This category works with the Adobe suite to produce videos  and other forms of content for YouTube, TikTok, Twitter and Instagram. Staff members like the WCAT Producer and the Social Media Managers work under this category.

Photography: This category works with every other sectors to photograph as much of the school as possible. From action shots to team photos, our photographers got the school covered.

Podcasting: This category covers podcasts produced by members of WCAT Media. The catalogue includes The Den and What the Fork.

WCAT Live: Also known as the broadcasting club, this sector of media primarily livestreams major sporting games, and any other important assemblies.

WCAT Media is overseen by two advisers: Kyle Reinhart ([email protected]) and Megan Baker ([email protected]).
