On the fateful day of October 18, When We Were Young Fest, will blast off once again in 2025. The festival happens every year in the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, hosting ‘90s and 2000s influences, like Green Day, Paramore, and much more. WWWYF, this year, will be featuring popular bands and artists such as Weezer, Avril Lavigne, BLINK-182, and arguably the most anticipated, Panic! At The Disco. With every new announcement comes speculation.
Headliner Panic! At The Disco will be performing their iconic 2005 album, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, in its entirety. With many of the former members of the band no longer associating with frontman Brendon Urie, Conversations arose from this lineup. “Will Ryan Ross be here?”, “How will Brendon Urie play A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out without the original band?” Questions about other bands have risen as well. “How did they get Never Shout Never on the lineup?” But, what some other people are concerned about is the lack of female artists and female leading bands in comparison to bands and artists that have accusations and real crimes against their name. Other concerns regard prices and the lineup in entirety.
Bands like The Used and All Time Low have members that have committed crimes, like abuse, sexual assault, amongst many other things that are incriminating to their band’s public image. People say that they shouldn’t be on the roster of artists, which is reasonable. Yet, WWWYF decided to put bands like those because they fit the name, as people listened to them when they were young. Going into the female artist and female led band epidemic, there’s a lack of them in the lineup this year, compared to past lineups that held arguably “better” artists and bands. Loads of people criticize the festival for putting more offenders on the lineup rather than more well known and loved bands and artists, along with female led things.
Social media users, especially on TikTok and Twitter (X), compare next year’s lineup to this year’s lineup, criticizing how bad next year’s lineup is. This year’s lineup included well loved headliners, like My Chemical Romance and Fall Out boy, which made everybody cheer in hope for the years following. But, WWWYF’s new lineup was only held up with complaints, with people saying how bad it is. However, others are ecstatic about their favourite artists and bands playing. Some bands on the lineup haven’t gone on tour in a really long time. Despite what anybody says, people are always entitled to their own opinions, and it’s only up for themselves if they wish to go or not. Segwaying over to the next topic, prices.
Every year, due to the artists and many other things like food and band merch, ticket prices are pretty insane compared to most festival’s ~$120 average. WWWYF tickets usually cost around $325, sometimes up to $650 if someone wanted VIP tickets. There are packages covering hotel room and ticket prices, but they aren’t that much cheaper compared to VIP tickets. This doesn’t even cover extra costs that you may pay before, during, or after the festival- like airplane tickets and merch from official vendors or fans. But like every year that WWWYF happens in Las Vegas Festival Grounds, fans go out of their way to empty their pockets, just to see the artists and bands they all love and adore dearly.
