No One Shows Thanksgiving Love

You know Dasher and Dancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen. But do you recall… Thanksgiving? No, because no one shows Thanksgiving enough love and it’s absurd.  It is constantly ignored as a holiday, and shouldn’t be.

Thanksgiving originated after settlers forced Native Americans out of their homes and tried to make it look okay when nothing about it was or still is. However, everyone ignores Thanksgiving as a modern holiday. The modern holiday of Thanksgiving is meant to be spent with those you love and being grateful for all you have. Modern traditions of the holiday include a feast for the family and pies of all sorts, casseroles and cakes, and finding yourself surrounded by those you love.

American pop cultures of film and music are even influenced by these holidays. Disney for example, has multiple movies for Halloween and Christmas. Thanksgiving movies are rarely made or  even paid attention to, and as Americans we measure the end of the year in holidays. Typically this process starts with Halloween, but the minute November 1st  hits 93.9 LITE FM turns to 24/7 Christmas music. Every year. Interestingly enough, there is never a time for thanksgiving songs because there are none.

Thanksgiving is overlooked as a holiday, as a time to spread love and be grateful. So spread some love this holiday season and remember that Thanksgiving deserves love too.
