On June 11, 2020 Steph Coelho published an article named “Best Coping Methods for Anxiety,” the article talks about anxiety and how it can drastically affect people in their everyday lives. It also says how important it is to identify the cause of your anxiety. If anxiety and worry are frequent and disruptive they might become a disorder, in which case many people have to get treatment. The article has many methods to deal with anxiety. Some of the methods are meditation, yoga, tai chi and just simple breathing exercises. Occasional anxiety is normal, but if it’s persistent it’s best to seek professional help.
Step Coelho said, “Anxiety is a normal part of life. However, people sometimes experience prolonged periods of anxiety that can affect their social, work, or personal lives. People can try various methods to help them cope.” Coelho then lists some of the ways to cope with anxiety. The first method was breathing. To do this method you first, breathe in slowly through the nose, hold your breath in for several seconds then, you breathe out slowly and finally, repeat a few times until the anxiety reduces and the heart rate returns to normal.
Coelho then goes on to explain various reasons why someone could possibly feel anxious. Reasons that might affect some people are some such as, work-related stress, financial troubles, health problems, drug use, social relationships, trauma. These reasons can make someone get anxious or even get an anxiety disorder. Many people tend to get anxious but everyone has different issues and everyone goes about differently.
In the article, “How to Identify and Manage Anxiety Triggers” Arlin Cuncic goes into detail about the different types of situations that can trigger someone’s anxiety, and she expresses how important it is to identify your triggers. “While any social or performance situation has the potential to elicit social fears, there are some common triggers among people with social anxiety. You may have one or multiple triggers, which is why learning to identify your personal triggers can help you avoid or better cope with your social anxiety disorder.” Cuncic said. There are so many ways people’s anxiety can be triggered. The first one being performances, performances can be musical, athletic, or public speaking. “People with SAD who fear these types of situations often find that they have trouble performing up to their ability because of their anxiety.” Cuncic said. The rest of the anxiety triggers could be parties, meeting new people, making small talk, and even reading and writing. Overall, anxiety can really affect us and it’s best to get help if you think you have the debilitating form of it.
